Web page titles are very often ignored or not composed using the web site keywords. As the title is the first component of a web site that search engines see, it makes sense that it needs to convey the subject of each particular web page. Care should be taken as well with the title length because after about 70 characters, the rest is not visible in the SERPs (search engine results pages).
Similar care should be used by avoiding repetition of the same keyword. Title phrases can be split into more than one descriptor as long as it still incorporates valid page keywords. As with any text, spelling should be checked to make certain the title conveys the message that is meant to be read by web surfers or search engines. Currently, the title is considered the most important tag. |
